So I’ve been trying to work on my artist side the past months. With my Architect Neggiehubby being my first client, I was tasked to create a logo and other identity products for his personal practice, Ramos Arts & Designs [details on this, to follow]. And because I’ve got no background whatsoever with GFX-ing and the likes, I relied majorly on some stock knowledge and tons of online tutorials. One of my favorites was that of Chris Spooner, owner of Blog.Spoongraphics.co.uk.

And so moving on with my ‘star-struck’ moment, I was browsing his site earlier for some inspiration on the business card that I’m working on when suddenly I decided to drop him a message. And here’s how I did it:
Hi Chris!
I bet you’ve been receiving tons of praising messages from everybody who stumble upon then frequents your site.
Anyway, this is the first time that I’ve written stuff like this to someone I barely know. =p
I came across your site for the first time a few months back while working for a company that requires us to be online the whole time. As if its a blessing in disguise, or what not, it was the same time that I’m starting to practice/start my designer/artistic side. I don’t have any academic background on this and I’m just purely relying on stuff that I read on the internet. I believe that with all the perseverance, I’ll be able to produce my own masterpieces. And so far, I’ve been glued to your site for tips, tutorials. etc. I am greatly inspired every time.
Well, there you go–continue to inspire and help others.
Congratulations! =)
Liv
Sent that one with a big smile on my face. hahaha!
Then when I got home from work this evening, I checked my mail and I was stunned by a reply from the great Mr. Spoon! Whew! Wasn’t really expecting to get a reply from him but he did! And this was his short [and kinda template-ish] reply for me:
Hi Liv
Thanks for stopping by!
It’s always great to hear from readers of my blog, especially when they get in touch with such kind comments. I’m glad to hear the tutorials and articles have been of some use to you, I hope the upcoming topics also come in handy!
Chris
Sweet right?!
I think that’s a great sign that I’ll be having a great deal of a career with this GFX-ing thingy!
